The Memory Keeper's Daughter
7 journalers for this copy...
A book about secrets. Admitedly a huge secret in this case. When Dr. David Henry helps his wife give birth on a snowy night in 1964 he delivers twins. One has Down's Syndrome and he makes the decision to send her to an institution. He tells his wife that their daughter died. His nurse takes the little girl and raises her. It follows the lives of both twins and their family life. The lie eats it's way into Dr. Henry's life and follows the repercussions on the whole family.

What a wonderful book! It didn't disappoint me. Somehow I expected David's and Norah's marriage to lead into a different way... I don't know how; the total enstrangement makes sense, of course, but I think the author could have got more out of them? Maybe I would have preferred David to come clean before his death? The first time Norah meets Phoebe was a bit silly, in my opinion (you're welcome to live with us... ???), but all in all it was a gripping and beautiful story line, and I'm happily to finally have read it.
The book will go to martjxox as soon as I have finished another book that I've started that I need to pass on to her:)

Okarih has asked to be removed as she has been given this book.
Things have been busy here and I've started this but haven't had time to finish. I'm going to pass it on anyway as I think I've had it too long - sorry. I will get a copy from somewhere else though and still put a review on here when I've finishd it.
Just received this in the mail, and will begin working on it!
Finally finished! I enjoyed the plot thoroughly; I liked the split story lines for the twins. I agree with madnad that the estrangement in the marriage was unexpected - well, to that degree, at least. The end of the book was a little weird, and I was NOT expecting David's end! :( Overall, an addictive read!
