It's always interesting going back and reading the early Discworld books, and seeing the evolution of Pratchett's writing from its pun-filled beginnings to the much subtler and more sophisticated humour of the later books. This one's kind of a middle ground - beginning to explore more interesting and complex ideas, but still rather heavily reliant on the bad puns.*
