This book is in a Controlled Release!
4 journalers for this copy...
This is my book club's pick for October 2008. I will release into the wild following the meeting.
Welcome to BookCrossing! It's a site for catching and releasing books and spreading the good karma of reading! Please make a journal entry when you FIND this book and let previous readers know how you came upon it. You may remain anonymous on this site if you like but it's very safe and spam free. We leave books around for others to stumble upon...they read, and then re-release in a public place for someone else to enjoy. Of course you're welcome to keep the book if you prefer but it's more fun to watch them travel and to hear from them once in a while. I hope you enjoy the book but I especially hope you enjoy BookCrossing.

Well, this title was dropped for our October meeting so I left it alone. Now it has re-surfaced and we're reading it for February 2009. I'm about 1/2 way through am enjoying some of the characters and others...not so much. Kind of waiting for something to happen soon. We'll see!
Not much good to say about this book. I do not recommend it though I *do* know there are people who've enjoyed it. It was just not for me. The whole Gypsy thing was tough. Many twists that I simply couldn't buy into. Extreme adverse conditions of the labor camps and life in general at the time are understood but the whole plausability of the story and it's characters are too much. I didn't *care* about any of the characters. My plan is to set it WILD and perhaps it will find someone to love it. Be well little book.
PS. Perhaps I'll learn more at our meeting in a few weeks but I don't see how the title "The Red Scarf" has much to do with this book. It's mentioned but it is of no significance...strange. Or, perhaps the one time it was mentioned was supposed to be significant and I just didn't care enough about it?

Set this aside for heartthumper.
Received from Poobah1 by mail yesterday. Thank you! Eager to get it started, I have heard so much about it! I have two friends waiting to read it, but my mom has claimed it next.
Finally got this back from everyone else who had to "read" it. Loved it. Sending off as a birthday surprise.

Happy Late Birthday! Saw this on you wishlist and realized I had it somewhere but had never read it. That's what took so long. Then I realized I had another by the same author and hurried up to read it also. Hope you enjoy both of them!

So sorry this book as been waiting in my TBR pile for such a long time but I have finally read it :)There were some surprising twists in it but on the whole I found it a bit difficult to read this book, was too slow for me at times so my mind kept wandering off somewhere.
