Joyce's luscious prose beautifully captures the faded yet still elegant grandeur of Venice, and she deftly infuses the relationship between her complex, subtly nuanced hero and heroine with an exquisite form of chemistry. Danger, deception, and desire all come together brilliantly in this sublimely sensual historical romance. John Charles
