Picked up at the lifeline bookfair. It's one of those books you've heard about for ever it was a bestseller.
The optimal age for me to have read this book was 16. Sadly this didn't happen. I believe it was made into a pretty good movie with Vincent Price - who would be perfect in any gothic novel.
At 40 something hopefully I will revive the teenager in me and enjoy.

typical romantic historical novel but qutie well written.
The ending was a little disappointing but a to be expected resolution.
