Away from the bustle and buzz of New York life, this is quite a different Pendergast book - and one where, after the big "reveals" of Cabinet of Curiosities built so much of his back story, it's great to see his character develop further still. And the supporting characters are great.
Though I couldn't get the feeling out of my head that I was reading a synopsis for an episode of Supernatural rather than reading a Pendergast book... Ah well, I don't think his fans would be disappointed here!
