I've previously enjoyed about half of the novels in this series. This filled in some character gaps for me, such as how Mma met her husband and got the business started. The shorter case stories were more interesting to me than the main story regarding the boy kidnapped by two men in a truck, though I did flip through to the end to see how it all came out.
