7 out of 10

More murder & mayhem with Stephanie & the gang. It's difficult to say much more without spoiling the plot, but needless to say this had me rooling about with laughter at times. I'd love to spend a day with Grandma Mazur, but would I survive!!!!!

I've already PM'd Yowlyy for her details.

Stephanie and her mad family are visiting my home again... I can hardly wait to start this, but I've promised myself to finish first the book I am reading. Thanks to scotsbookie for shipping, and Vespa for sharing :))

Journal Entry 8 by YowlYY on Friday, September 26, 2008

8 out of 10

Stephanie does not disappoint: she manages to get involved in a murder and is accused of having kidnapped or maybe even disposed of her ex husband (Dickie, who we all know was/is? involved with Stephanie's archrival), must apprehend a taxidermist, who inspires Grandma Mazur to take up a new hobby, is followed and threatened by a mobster guy who wants to roast her alive, and is still very much torn between Morelli and Ranger. Hmmm... Bulgari Green Tea...that does smell nice!
As usual, there were passages in the book that had me in stitches...the scenes of dinner at the Plum's house, with the whole family at the table and their guests, are bound to make laugh out loud anyone! And then there's Lula and her sense of dress (not to mention her language!), Grandma Mazur and her dry comments, Bob the dog, and Stephanie's father...to cut it short, read it and have fun, you won't be disappointed.

The book left today to visit Gembear - happy reading!

Whoa, sorry about this but I was so excited to receive it that I took it off to bed and ripped into its pages, metaphorically speaking of course. I'm up to chapter seven and it's been a laugh a minute! I do so love Stephanie's misadventures, the zapping, the Joyce jealousy, the cars! It's a hoot. I do apologise for not journalling that I received the book but if you'll excuse me I'm off to bed for another chapter or two, ha!

9 out of 10

Wonderful read! I liked the way Ranger was more human and male like in this book and felt it took away none of his mystique. Granny was at her best and mum was entertaining too in her own desperate way! Loved the goon show, I wanna get me a staple gun! I read that section out to my husband and he managed to laugh rather than wince at it, ha! But the best bit was the whole Joyce and Dave scene, I was struggling to read on as I was laughing so hard.

A thoroughly entertaining read that is now on its way to Tanamo! Thank you for sharing it!

Safely received today and I look forward to reading the further adventures of Stephanie and her family in this brilliant series that so far has never disappointed me and judging from the comments of the previous readers, this installment isn't going to either.

Wonderful, life is good - this was sitting today [Mon 10 Nov] quietly on my door mat awaiting me diving on it with glee. Yes, Tamamo got your 1st pm Fri 31 Oct 08 but was busy that weekend, doing BC admin but not particularly looking at my email, so thanks for your next PM sent 4 days later Mon 03 Nov. I’ll just go and PM Decembermum for her address. Cracking up over Rangers reaction to the Squirrel Bomb, as my fingers hit the keys… tee hee, hee…

Longer moments of appreciation follow, I couldn’t resist, [but no spoilers, well no real straight forward ones]. No need to read unless you have the time, shorter review reads - Stephanie as ever successfully, sassy, sexy and sublimely funny!

One - In which, Stephanie goes to talk to her ex Dickie, in a non-confrontational kind of way, just like two civilised people…
Two – in which, a large, a very large snake plays a small part…
Three – in which, a squirrel makes a startling smelly exit…
Four – in which, Stephanie’s car’s appears to simply stop! Has another of Stephanie’s just died…?
Five – in which, Stephanie’s and Lula’s hysterical giggling, after the mix of a grass house and fire, is inevitable…
Six – in which, Stephanie wakes to find that she and her ex are fatally linked in the newspapers, they say she killed him…
Seven – in which, both Ranger and Joyce Barnhardt turn up for Friday dinner at the Plumbs, then Joyce’s car won’t start… Has it died also…?
Eight – in which, Ranger and Stephanie follow the money, but Stephanie in a tight spot gets painfully creative with a stapler…
Nine – in which, Stephanie and Lula don overalls to follow the money - via toilets and kitchens…
Ten – in which, Stephanie uses her initiative in finding a whole new crime scene, but makes a hurried exit with dinged body parts and singed eyebrows…
Eleven – in which, Rangers Bulgari Green shower gel is noted, Stephanie stays over, then with Ranger she attends a meeting with some big bad guys… [I seem to recall he used to use Bulgari Black Pearl - OMG how come I recall this trivia?]
Twelve – in which, there’s a memorable line or two about logos, underpants and Stephanie going goofy…
Thirteen – in which, Stephanie finds a ghost, and Stephanie and Lula get all sympathetic with the taxidermist who’s battling the cable company, and the big blond baddie gets an awful shock from Joyce who saves Stephanie in the process… What ever next!
Fourteen – in which, unlikely scenarios abound, Stephanie and Ranger have quiet a evening in watching TV, the cable company comes good for the taxidermist, Lula throws a wobbly at Ranger when her sweetheart gets dinged…
Fifteen – in which, the biggest bad guy makes contact and states his terms while Grandma Mazur gets a dinner date…
Sixteen – in which, Grandma Mazur considers taxidermy lessons, and Stephanie and Lula consider graveside revelations…
Seventeen – in which, Stephanie finally gets to hear what her ex had stumbled upon that got him in so much trouble…
Eighteen – in which, the two biggest badass guys show up yet again, flamethrower in tow, determined to get at the cash no matter what and Stephanie surprises herself by her sassy bravery!

Not heard from Decembermum yet, I’ll give her another PM over the coming weekend.

ADDED - Wed 26 Nov: Posted to Decembermum from the St Nicholas Centre post office in Aberdeen on November 20th. So… that Thursday there were two things to do in the morning; post a couple of books in Edinburgh then; take a bus to Aberdeen. However… my timing, sadly to say, as ever, was not good, so this got posted from Aberdeen instead!
