Journal Entry 1 by krl112 from Hawthorne, New Jersey USA on Thursday, August 14, 2008
"What goes on behind closed doors. . .

Liz and Jonathan Chambers were in trouble. They can’t sell their old house. Here they are, stuck with two mortgages, mounting debts and a miserable adolescent daughter who hadn’t wanted to move anyway. Then it seems Marcus Witherstone will solve all their problems. He knows the perfect tenants from London who will rent their old house – glamorous PR girl Ginny and almost-famous Piers. Everything is going to be OK.

But soon everyone’s entangled with everyone else, in the most awkward possible way. And as events closed in on him, Marcus began to realise that some deceptions are just a bit too close to home."

This book is scheduled for an international Bookray. If interested, please PM me with your location and shipping preferences.

Here are the rules for the book ray:
1. Please journal as soon as you receive the book and again after you read it and mail it to the next person. This will help everyone else keep up with the book's current location.
2. Put the book at the top of your TBR pile (after the book that you are currently reading and any other rings/rays that arrived before this one.)
3. If you don't think you will be able to read this book within a reasonable time (approx. 1 month) after receiving it, please let me know before the book is mailed to you. I will be happy to move your name down on the list if needed.
4. After you read the book, please PM the next person on the list for their address. If you get the next person's address from RABCK.com, you may want to PM them just to ensure that the address has not changed.
5. Mail the book to the next person on the list using the cheapest shipping method available.
6. PM me if you have any problems with contacting the next person so I can help with trying to contact her/him.
7. The last person to receive the book should try to keep the book moving by ray-it-forward, RABCK/wishlist request to another Bookcrosser, if possible. Last resort, it is ok to wild-release. I just ask that you do not sell the book.

Here is where the book will be traveling. This will be updated as others join:

Journal Entry 4 by yayajanuary from Jakarta, Jakarta Indonesia on Monday, September 1, 2008
The book has arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia..

Have received this book as Book Ray from krl112. Thanks for the opportunity given to me to read the book :)

I will try to read it as fast as I could ;))
-------------------
Have finished reading it. The story line is different from the books I've read before.

As much as I pity Liz (the character in the book), my heart goes to Jonathan. And as much as I hate Anthea, I still feel deeply compassion toward her.

*confused what I've been babbling about here? just wait for your turn to read, hehehee... ;)

it's arrived, thank you!

Journal Entry 10 by kiyoitsukikage from Brixton, Greater London United Kingdom on Monday, February 23, 2009
Tbh, I only read a very brief summary of the book and expected something entirely different ;) more creepy [!] etc. This way or another, the book was an OK read, not very challenging and it wasn't difficult to foresee what would happen. The thing that annoyed me were the detailed descriptions of how somebody moved from side to side or moved their mug, I think this part of writing is not the author's strength.
Thank you for sharing and sorry for having held the book back for so long!

Journal Entry 16 by wingpenelopewanderswing from Saint-Loup-des Vignes, Centre France on Monday, May 11, 2009
This story never really got off the ground, as far as I am concerned. The characters were fairly interesting although almost all rather unpleasant in some way, and I never greatly enjoy spending time with people I don't particularly like - in real life or in books. It wasn't particularly funny, not very sad or tragic, just a bit dreary, really.
I am glad, however, to read something else by this author, having only read the Undomestic Goddess. I'm PMing the next for the address. Thanks so much for making this book available.
Update May 13
Just heard back from kbmarsh who has asked to be skipped. I'll PM the next in line.

The postman delivered this today. I'm really looking forward to reading it. I've another ring before this one, but I'll hopefully get to this book within the next couple of weeks.

Thanks for sharing krl112 and thanks for sending it to me penelopewanders.

Journal Entry 19 by DitteL from Næstved, Storstrøms Amt Denmark on Wednesday, June 10, 2009
This wasn't my cup of tea. I quess I'd expected more. This story was just to common to be interesting and the characters weren't really likeable, they were somehow to human and ordinary. I didn't care much for the ending either, I would have liked a bit more drama.

I've contacted the next on the list but is still awaiting a response.

EDIT: 06/13/09. Second PM send to Icila

After a tour of the globe, this book has arrived safely today back in New Jersey where it started! I have enjoyed all the books I've read by Sophie Kinsella and I'm looking forward to this one as well. I am in the middle of a book right now so this will be up next.

Journal Entry 27 by 300dogs from Jackson, New Jersey USA on Wednesday, August 26, 2009
Hmph, so I just finished reading A desirable Residence and I think I'll stick with her alias as Sophie Kinsella. I enjoyed those books better. This one was just ok. I never fully understood the whole shady business practices going on with Marcus and Leo. Not too sure what really went on there. And I'm not too sure about the ages of Ginny, Piers and Duncan but find it hard to believe that grown adults were spending so much time with 14 year old Alice.

I already have the address for the next reader and will mail this out next week.
