Lily Owens, a motherless 14 year old girl, and Rosaleen, her black housekeeper and nanny, run away from Lily's abusive father. Lily's mother was killed by a fatal gun shot wound when Lily was 4 years old. The women end up at the house of 3 black sisters, who know and helped raise Lily's mother.

I had alot of high hopes for this book. It was good, but it kept dragging and dragging!!
