Where or When?

Just popped into the library for some information on evening classes and found myself drifting over to the used book sale shelf! Somehow this book ended up in my hand.
Amazon Editorial Review:
Charles Callahan, a faithfully married businessman, chances upon a newspaper photograph of a woman he loved 30 years ago. Unable to resist, he writes her, a poet living with her husband and two children.
Powerfully drawn together again, the two lovers grapple with issues they never expected to face: the nature of erotic love and betrayal, the agony of lost years, bewildering moral quandaries in an age of shifting values, and the elusive nature of time.
"An affecting novel that will attract readers of THE BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY, it offers the further rewards of psychologically nuanced characterizations and a thoughtful exploration of the relationship between sexuality and time." (Publishers Weekly)

What a wonderful read! I feel emotionally drained after reading this book. I could sympathise with Sian and Charles but I also felt so sorry for their unknowing spouses. I'm not sure how I wanted this book to end but I couldn't put it down when I got to the last few pages.
Like all the Anita Shreve books I have read so far, very well written and very intuitive. I can't wait to read another of hers but I'm having a rest and reading something a bit more light-hearted to get over this one first.
I hope yayajanuary enjoys it as much as me. It's a bit of a tatty book but well worth reading! I will be sending it off in the next couple of days.
