I heard Lee Stringer talking on the Bookshow on Radio National in Australia. He was a guest at the Sydney Writers Festival sharing the podium with Augusten Burroughs, who was talking about his book, 'Dry'. It was remarkable to hear their stories together. Lee Stringer's book didn't change my life, but it touched my heart in an incredible way. I've never looked at a street person the same way again. And I started buying the local version of the homeless person's magazine. He gave me a new insight into just what a tough business that is and a great admiration for the amount of energy and spirit that it takes for someone to get started, buy the magazines and then face the whithering barrage of rejection as they try to sell them and make some money. I also re-examined the quality of the writing in the magazines and was very pleasantly surprised.
