Journal Entry 1 by helfena from Stockholm, Stockholm Sweden on Tuesday, August 5, 2008
"Every weekend, in basements and parking lots across the country, young men with good white-collar jobs and absent fathers take off their shoes and shirts and fight each other barehanded for as long as they have to. Then they go back to those jobs with blackened eyes and loosened teeth and the sense that they can handle anything. Fight Club is the invention of Tyler Durden, projectionist, waiter and dark, anarchic genius. And it's only the beginning of his plans for revenge on a world where cancer support groups have the corner on human warmth."

The book behind the movie with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton.

BOOKRING (International)
I've decided to let this book go as a bookring. That means anyone who is interested can be added to the list below. Whenever someone finishes the book they send it to the next person on the list - send them a PM to receive their address.

Rules:
- You must post here when you receive the book, when you've read it (and we'd love to know what you thought of it!) and when you send it to the next person on the list.
- You should be fairly quick. Please don't keep the book more than a month. Or at least not much. :)
- You should be willing to send the book internationally (I'll assume you are if you don't say anything about it). FYI it's not very heavy, just under 160 g which this conversion calculator tells me is 5.62 ounces.
- Let me know if there are any problems!

To join:
Please PM me and I'll add you to the list!

I just finished it, and I really enjoyed reading it. I loved the movie, mostly because of the brilliant twist at the end (which I won't spoil here...), and I was very curious to see how the novel was constructed and how the twist was hinted at.

It's an extremely cool book, very witty in a way that sometimes gets almost tiresome but still works. I haven't read anything else by Palahniuk, but I've heard that this is how he always writes, that his characters are always cool in the same way. That seems tiresome, but judging this book on its own, which is all I can do, I have to love it.

It is violent, gory and unpleasant in many ways, but it's also a lot more than that. It's intelligent and the twist is beautifully hinted. This book is definitely worth reading!

Journal Entry 6 by StinaRy from Long Beach, California USA on Monday, September 29, 2008
Just finished and while it was a decent read and had its really strong points, it wasn't as good as I expected. But, since I've already seen the movie, maybe I just couldn't truly appreciate the book.

In any case, will be sending it off to the next person as soon as I have an addy.

Journal Entry 7 by kaila-ann from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina USA on Friday, October 10, 2008
Got it in the mail today and I will start it as soon as I finish the book that I am currently reading.

Journal Entry 8 by kaila-ann from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina USA on Saturday, October 18, 2008
I enjoyed the book but I think that is due to the fact that I have seen the movie. I honestly think that if I hadn't already seen the movie I probably would have had no idea what was going on and I would have given up on it very quickly. I must say though, that having now read the book, the movie kept to the book very well. There weren't a whole lot of ideas or actions that werent in both. Overall I liked the book but in this case I think the movie was better, some times you just have to be able to see an idea for it to work.

Anyway, I will be mailing this out on Friday when I make my weekly trip to the post office. Thanks for letting me participate!

Sending on to labmomnm, enjoy!

Journal Entry 10 by winglabmomnmwing from Albuquerque, New Mexico USA on Friday, October 31, 2008
Arrived in the mail.

8 November 2008 - Well, I didn't like this. I haven't seen the movie but I don't think that made it less accessible (as suggested by an earlier journaler). My main problem with it was that reminded me so much of another book - Irvine Welsh's "Marabou Stork Nightmares" - that same fractured writing (dead giveaway for the narrator's mental status), similar kind of trajectory....but "Stork" was a much more interesting read for me. It was also published first, which makes me wonder if CP had read it & subconsciously went in a similar direction? Anyway, I'd have probably given this more stars if it hadn't lost out in the comparisons to Welsh's book.

Thanks for sharing!

A good book. Odd ending, as odd as I remember the film being, but at least for once the film was true to the book!

Will send it on once my housemate has finished reading it.

Sent to thobe 1,5 years ago, sorry for not updating until now but I sent the book before checking the code in it.

I liked the book, but I am not used to reading in English so it was not an easy read. I had already seen the movie, that helped.

Journal Entry 25 by thobe at Malmö, Skåne Sweden on Thursday, July 18, 2019
After quite some time I have found the book. I received it and read it back when it was sent to me. I then (foolishly?) let a friend read it while he was staying at my place, then the book disappeared. Today I found it in a bookshelf in the office (not at my home, at my work). Where should I send it?
