8 out of 10

A nice change of pace from King's other works. He indicates inside that it took twelve years to write this.

It has elements of a western but that's just because the current world has moved on and the deserted wasteland that's left is this book's environment. I especially like the discussion at the end of the book (which I will keep vague as it would be a spoiler) regarding an interesting philosophical question.

The book itself will be sent to moonglow18 in Alabama as the first step in a bookring.
Stephen King's Dark Tower serial bookring (all four books)

The complete order is:
1. Vysion
2. moonglow18
3. ladyofunicorns
4. kestralwing
5. Hazel72
6. grover3d
7. summerbreeze
8. ladytonia
9. Vysion (back home)

Just send a PM to the next person for their address.

6 out of 10

I am not quite sure that i know what to say about this book. It is not Stephen King's usual stuff. I don't think it was bad but i think it was to much fantasy for me but i am willing to keep an open mind as the next book comes some time later. So this book will be on it's way to ladyofunicorns.

I tried to read this book a looooong time ago (when it first came out) and I couldn't read it. It bored me. Well, I am glad I tried to read it again because I greatly enjoyed it! I started it on Sunday and just finished it! That is one of my quicker reads considering the long hours I work at my job and how tired I am when I come home. I couldn't put it down actually!

Will be sending out to the next on the list sometime soon!

I found I couldn't get into this book -- probably because I have just reread the extra-long version of "The Stand" and have been King'd out for awhile. :-)

So I'm sending it on to grover3d, and bowing out of the series.

I think I've read everything ELSE Stephen King, but I've passed on "The Dark Tower" series until now. I've already started - thanks for sharing it.

8 out of 10

I tried to read this book a number of years ago and just couldn't get into it, which was a surprise to me because I've read and enjoyed everything else King has written. I forced myself to try this one again, and I have to say that I was fairly ambivalent until the last quarter of the book, with a very surprising (to me) plot twist and a fast paced, philosophical ending. Fans of the series must go crazy, though! =)

I'm not sure how strongly I feel about reading THE DRAWING OF THE THREE....I wouldn't have been interested at all until toward the end of this one, now I guess I'll just wait and see.

I received this in the mail yesterday and I forgot to enter in a journal, so here I am entering one it. I am not much of a Stephen King fan because he couldn't scare me like John Saul did...but I have enjoyed his movies. But I can hardly wait to start reading this one.

7 out of 10

This book was a challenge to get into and after a half hour of reading each time I picked up the book I was able to get used to King's style of writing. Sometimes I got confused and did not know what was going on in the book, but I think I understood enough of the book to find out if he will carry on his journey to the Dark Tower. I do love King's expression of God, evil and the philosophy of comology with a hint of postmodernity mixed together. I can hardly wait to see what happens next.
