I bought this on the back of my reading of Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, which was great.

A very enjoyable read, light hearted but also thought provoking, with a little bit of magic thrown in. I did not realise it was a sequel, but this did not spoil the tale in any way. I will be looking out for more Fannie Flagg.

On its way to Hong Kong today
Received today. Thanks, Midlifecrisis for sending this out. It may take until after the holidays to finish it, though, as things are crazy busy right now.
I just love Fannie Flagg and her writing style. I can just imagine Mrs. Elner Shimfissle up in the fig tree in her tatty old robe picking figs. A fun read - a little thought-provoking. Will PM the next for their address and move it along.

Oh this was such a lovely read! Thank you so much Midlifecrisis for sharing this wonderful book! It's soothing for the soul. Funny, lighthearted and yet dealing with some serious topics (who could've thought reading about death & life-after-death could be so fun?), definitely thought-provoking. Some of those discussions that these characters have are just really precious! Am thinking about buying this book and sharing it with my mom & friends.
Am going to PM Rossella05 (UK) for her address and will try to send on the book ASAP. :-)

Thank you Kalise, it got here yesterday, I've just finished another bookray so I'll be starting this one this evening.
It was ok but not as good as "Welcome to the world, baby girl". It has the familiar, endearing elements of Fannie Flagg's novels and I've always found them uplifting and entertaining but this one wasn't as original as the others and the ending seemed contrived. I love Elner though, she's a memorable character and this turned out to be the perfect seasonal read as most of the story takes place around Easter and the themes reflect the spirit of the holiday. Thank you so much for sharing Midlifecrisis, I have voveryte's address and will post the book on saturday.

Finished!
I have signed for this ray after I've read Fried Green Tomatoes... and hoped for a good read, but I don't know why, but this book wasn't up to my expectations. Maybe the bad timing or the mood, but it didn't do any good to me as it did to most of you guys...
Anyway, thanks so much Midlifecrisis for organising this ray. Since I'm the last one on the list, I'll think of further travels for this book.

I enjoyed the first third lots, there was some very funnily dialogue between characters. (If that's the right word for a book, rather than film?) The middle section was ok, if a little mushy, and the last seemed to be for tying up the ends. A bit disappointing overall.
Thank you so much Cinderess, I'm looking forward to reading it! There's quite a few people who's journaled this book, and their ratings look really good, I'm really intrigued, thank you!
