Journal Entry 1 by wingkinediwing from Rushyford, County Durham United Kingdom on Monday, July 28, 2008
The Smart family's lacklustre holiday in Norwich is turned upside down when a beguiling stranger called Amber appears, bringing with her love, joy, pain and upheaval. The Smarts try to make sense of their bewildering emotions as Amber tramples over family boundaries and forces them to think about their world and themselves in an entirely new way. "The Accidental" is at once a mysterious web of secret identities and a ruthlessly honest look at the silent cracks that can develop unnoticed in relationships over time.

Sadly couldn't get into this one at all. Her writing style was far too disjointed for me.

Like Kinedi, I couldn't get into this. If I wasn't in so much of a rush to get through my TBR pile right now, I might have persevered. But as things stand I'm going to give up on it.

Picked up at Meet-up. Disliked Smith's Girl Meets Boy, so interested to see how I fare with this one.

Well, third time isn't a charm for this one. I did finish it, but after a decent start, this story went downhill fast for me. All characters lost any sympathy, interest or believability they might have had at the start.

I give it a try.

I like the style as style, but that same style made that I , like the others, couldn't get into the story. My next book will be from Ian Rankin about Inspector Rebus. That will be more exciting I hope.

Weer een boek gescoord op Den Haag Centraal en ook deze was daar achtergelaten door hjverveer. Leuk! Ik ga ook deze lezen en zal hem dan weer loslaten.

I actually liked this book. I liked the style of it: through the thoughts of the characters the story unfolds. It's a bit 'stream-of-consciousness'-like. Not something I normally get into, but the story was intriguing enought to keep my attention thoughout, though it kept quite a few questions unanswered at the end. If you want to try something different, this certainly is it!

I will be releasing it again soon.
