I sneered when I read Michael Connolly's comment on the back of this book. "A single-sitting read", he called it. But I was wrong. This is such a gripping, haunting story, that it's impossible to put down without having the mystery cloud your mind. I ended up reading it not quite in a single sitting, but in a day anyway. Nothing profound or enlightening here, just a thumping-good mystery. Pure entertainment and very well done.
