From Publishers Weekly
Florida psychic Mira Morales, her FBI agent fiancé, Wayne Sheppard, and her 14-year-old daughter, Annie, pay a visit to old friends, Ramona and Jerry Stevens, at their woodland cabin outside Asheville, N.C.

Soon after arrival, Mira opens the cabin door to a seemingly pleasant woman who introduces herself as Allie then pulls out a gun. For a stranger, Allie seems to know an awful lot about Mira and Sheppard. When Mira flees to the Stevens' barn, Allie chases her and shoots her in the thigh. Hurting Mira wasn't part of Allie's plan, but it does make it easier to abduct Mira in her Land Rover.

While Sheppard and Annie work on tracking Mira down, the story flashes back 15 years to focus on the dysfunctional, wealthy Curry family. These flashbacks are the book's biggest strength, as they present a tantalizing puzzle involving Dean Curry and his power-mad older sister, Allie, and provide a convincing motive for Allie's violent actions.

What a great read...a cracking tale! The fact that the main character in this book is psychic gives this tale a twist making it an above average thriller (in my opinion anyhow!)

The previous JE covers the basic storyline & it's difficult to say anything else without giving too much away & I really don't want to spoil it for any future readers. So all I'll say is...

The characters are really well written & believeable & as the previous JE says the "flashbacks" work really well. I throughly enjoyed this book & will look for more by this author...there are a few references to an previous event involving Mira & her daughter, & I hope that means there may be more books about this psychic.

This was a good-reading thriller/mystery. The little bit of psychic twists make it all the more interesting. Thanks again, Plum-crazy for sharing - I will have to look up more by this author! I have jneni's addy and will post this to her tomorrow.

Journal Entry 15 by jneni on Tuesday, February 17, 2009
Forgot about this until I got it from Wandering-B in the maiL! :D Sorry for the confusion Wandering-B! :) Thank you for sending it!!

This is such a good read! :) I managed to finish it today amidst the hectic schedule. It's the first book I read from MacGregor.

First off, I must say that this is definitely a page-turner. MacGregor knows how to grab your attention the moment you start reading. After that, the whole thing just spirals out-of-control so fast! The 'crime' happened in a flash, as it progresses you'll be dying to know what happens next to everyone. The story just grips on to your heart and you will not stop until you finish reading it!

Overall, the plot is great, the characters are lovable (except...!) and very real. I don't know much about psychics but at least in this book, MacGregor did a nice job in it - not overly exaggerating psychic powers which really make them more credible.

Thank you for introducing this book to me! I'll PM the next on the list and drop the book into the mail next week!

It's April Fool's Day now @12:48am - didn't think I would finish reading on this day. Interesting read about out-of-body experience and telepathy kind of stuff, once started just had to continue to know how the story ends. The story also moves very fast. I'll be able to send it off to Amber-C afterall, no need to wait till May :-D

Thanks Plum-crazy for sharing.

This is a well written and suspenseful book that really pulled me into the story. There were a couple of things that were skimmed over that I would have liked explained, but overall a very enjoyable read.

Posting to foxygirlACT tomorrow.

Journal Entry 24 by foxygirlACT from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory Australia on Wednesday, May 13, 2009
I got through this book fairly fast. It was a good page turner. The one thing I didn't like were the references to some previous event where they time travelled. I'm all for the psychic angle, but the time travelling references put me off a bit and I think were completely unrelated to the rest of the book.

Anyway, overall, not a bad read, will post on to Tinina67 (Australia) once I have the address.

Journal Entry 25 by Tinina67 on Thursday, May 21, 2009
Arrived today safe and sound. On top of my TBR pile. Thanks for including me. :-)

Journal Entry 26 by Tinina67 on Wednesday, May 27, 2009
Interesting and full of suspense, a quick read. But not one of the best I ever read. In some parts I got the impresssion that the author couldn't decide which genre this book should be. Still I enjoyed reading it.
Thanks for sharing. I will send it on asap.

Just finished this one, it was a pretty good thriller. I didn't really care for the ending though, it seemed so abrupt and rushed. I'll try to get this mailed out today.

The book is here! Last year when I signed up for this Bookring, I realized it was the third in a series, so I found the first two books at the library and read them quickly: Hanged Man and Black Water. Really fabuolous series! I like the psychic aspect of this series. I'm going to read this one soon and get it moving again.

Plum-crazy: where does the book go next?
