It is a paperback edition with 521 pages.

From its cover:
Stumbling through a secret entrance, Zanna and Deeba enter the strange wonderland of UnLondon. Here all the lost and broken things of London end up, and some of its people too - including Brokkenbroll, boss of the broken umbrellas and Hemi the half-ghost boy. But the 2 girls have earrived at a dangerous time. UnLondon is apalce where words alive, where a jungle lurks behind the door of an ordinary house, where carnovorous firaffes stalk the streets ... and a sinister cloud called Smog is bent on destruction. It's a frighten city in need of a hero ...

Update: 2010.02.01.
For me it was a page-turner story.

I love the way as how the writer played with the words. Umbrellas which were only a stick in London, after brokend down, in UnLondon they called Unbrellas, they are alived and obey to Brokkenbroll, so they are a kind of slave. But after their freeing they become Rebellas :) Lovely! There are much more like Binja (dustbin+ninja), afternet (internet within the ghost community), smombies (zombies filled smog) Klinneract (Clean Air Act) .. The characters are funny as well, like Curdle (alived milk carton box), a talking Book, strange houses, Slaterunners, utterlings, the man with birdcage head ... The drawing helped to imagine, wonderul!

Meanwhile its message is also important, the smog. The smog could be a dangerous thing. With our "modern" life we feed it, and it is increasing, smog alerts are familiar to us...

It is a so weird one, nevertheless it is interesting, mysterious, adventurous, fantastical story as well. It was worth to read, I enjoyed so much and finished it within 4 days.

Wow - I really enjoyed this book. Very clever word-play & some great comedy-fantasy ideas. Real infuluences of Neil Gaimen, Jasper Fforde & Clive Barker especially. A really enjoyable, easy clever read. Enjoyed the very subtle socio/political comments. Some great charecters, very nicly drawn.
Heres to being Un-Chosen! A wondedful idea for children's a book, saying it doesnt matter what you think your 'destiny' will be, or what others say you should do - you have to take responsibility for your own life and take yourself where you want to go.
Thankyou for sending me this Hakkalina - very much appreciated
