8 out of 10

This book arrived today:) I look forward to catching up with Lindsay and Gage Sinclair and all their friends in Buffalo Valley. I will start it as soon as I finish my current book. Thanks for sharing this top-tappser (I'll let you know if the other one shows up).

8/3/08
THE FARMER TAKES A WIFE
This is actually a short story at the end of the book. I finished reading another book yesterday and wasn't ready to start a new book, so I read this short story first. It's a story about Dave Stafford and how he placed an ad in a Farmer's Newsletter for a wife. This story predates the rest of the Dakota series but takes place in Buffalo Valley.

8/7/08
DAKOTA HOME
I enjoyed catching up with old friends in Buffalo Valley and meeting a few new people. I think about Lindsay and Maddie (being southern girls) and how hard it would be to survive the winters/blizzards. The McKenna's-brother and sister Jeb and Sarah: why do they have so much trouble with commitment? I just want to shake them. And Sarah's daughter, Calla-I'm not sure I could handle a teenager like her. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next Dakota book.

8 out of 10

I just finished the last word, and am not even going to take time to read the short story included, because I am anxious to get this passed on to Donduckandy today.

I really enjoyed the continuation. I thought I would miss not hearing as much about Lindsay and Gage, but really liked how Debbie continued with some familiar characters while adding new ones into the story.
I am lucky enough to have gotten a copy of the 3rd book in the trilogy and am willing to pass it on as well when I'm done.

Thanks again top-tappser for organizing these bookrings!

I will probably read and send to the next person one by one, as I know she has a couple of my bookrings already!!

Journal Entry 17 by wingLyzzyBeewing from Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom on Friday, January 16, 2009

This book has not been rated.

Lindsay Snyder's best friend Maddy has moved to Buffalo Valley and takes over the grocery store. She's intrigued by reticent farmber Jeb, but it takes one of Dakota's fierce winter storms to help her know more... Meanwhile dear old Buffalo Bob is struggling with his love for barmaid Merrily, and the other well-loved characters' lives are updated and intertwined too.

The short story in the end of the book was an excellent bonus!

Excellent stuff and I'm having to force myself not to race through the next installment as I want to a) give Anglersrest a pause between them and b) work on some of the rest of my TBR. Having said that, book 3 will be done and sending on by the end of next week.

9 out of 10

Well, as I suspected this book was not sitting by the bed for long. I finished it in the early hours and now wait patiently for book three!

In this book, with Lindsay happily married to Gage, we turn our attention to her good friend Maddy who has bought the grocery store. Caught up in a snow storm she spends three days with Jeb to whom she is very attracted.....Further developments with their relationship results in an addition to the local population! As indeed it does with Lindsay and Gage, Merrily & Buffalo Bob, Dennis and Sarah & hopeful with Heath and Rachel.

The addition of a short story set before the Dakota trilogy is a lovely way to end the second book in the series.

I do have calalilly's address but have misfiled my BC address book, so now will send a PM. Should be in the post this week.

10 out of 10

I've been trying to make up for the several months that I had abandoned Book Crossing and not passing book rings/rays along. So I sincerely apologize for holding on to this series for so long.

That being said I absolutely loved this whole series. The stories were happy and uplifting. Any conflict had good resolution. The Dakota series was one of those romantic (not sleezy) feel good set of books. It also opened me up to a new general and author. I will look for more Debbie Macomber.

I will contact RustyReader2 and ship them out when funds are available.
