Love the Dark Is Rising series, but never even heard of this title before.

Two brothers living in the Bahamas risk losing their unspoiled island playground when resort developers come to their home. They accidentally travel to a parallel world that is also threatened by human selfishness and must fulfill a prophecy that could change events in both worlds.

To TOC on 10/26/08.

I only got around to reading the Dark Is Rising series this year(!) and really enjoyed it. It will be interesting to read something *else* by this author, thanks!

Finally got around to reading this, and found it interesting. There were a couple of spots where I stopped and went "Oh, yeah, this is a Susan Cooper book, isn't it?" It takes a certain type of person to connect a Celtic deity and a 7-year-old Bahamian boy...

I'm just trying to imagine finding a fossil ten-armed starfish. That would be pretty good stuff. ;)

What I learned from this book: Casuarina pines are the tree I've always known as ironwood; I could tell from the description but confirmed it via Wikipedia.

First time I've seen the cover photo come up with the entire dust jacket...
