I really like other Dean Koontz books, but this one disappointed me quite a lot. It started out good- with a mysterious hit and a case of mistaken identity. The main character is, well, a good guy and jumps in to keep a woman from dying.
But from there, it all goes downhill. They run around trying to figure out who wants her dead, and it takes forever to get to something that should have taken 20 minutes. Meanwhile they go from place to place while someone's trying to kill her... but not much drama is built up in the meantime, even when there are close calls.
At the end, I was happy to think it was just a simple story about a good guy who gets involved at his own risk. And then there's a twist that even tosses away the one good thing I thought about this story. Grr.
Really not impressive. No supernatural spookiness that I like in Koontz books. No real tension or drama that I like in Koontz books. And no incredible, unforgettable characters that I like in Koontz books. Very disappointing.
Not the worst book I've ever heard, but I'm more than happy to pass it on now that I've read it. I hope someone else will like it more!

kinda hard to listen to, since the dialoge is tedious. didn't finish.
Great audiobook. I dont normally read/listen to Dean Koontz but this was a very exciting story.
