Ended up with this as a ray too (http://www.bookcrossing.com/journal/5560261 )which I posted out today. This was a nice little book but IMHO not quite as good at Mitch Bloom's others. There was much I did like about this book- it's a story of redemption after all. There was a wonderful quote about mums (that I can't now find) - but I also have to say that this picture is romanticised or naive because it fails to take into account that some mums are abusive, not all are kind, good and loving as the mum in this story. I loved it though that the ghost of the mum was back as a hairdresser! What a thought :) My favourite quote is from the end of the book: So this was my mother's story. And mine. I would like to make things right again with those I love I think we all wish that from time to time. And we need to do it. The trouble is that most of us can't go back - to un-do what we should not have done, or to do that which we failed to do - we have to learn to live in the present, to forgive (also forgive ourselves) and move on ...
