A LOVE THAT TRANSCENDS HEAVEN AND HELL

What happens to us after we die? Chris Nielsen had no idea, until an unexpected accident cut his life short, separating him from his beloved wife, Annie. Now Chris must discover the true nature of life after death.

But even Heaven is not complete without Annie, and when tragedy threatens to divide them forever, Chris risks his very soul to save Annie from an eternity of despair.

Richard Matheson's powerful tale of life---and love---after death was the basis for the Oscar-winning film starring Robin Williams.

Although the movie with Robin Williams is visually good, the book is better. It makes one wonder if reincarnation is true.

Can't wait to read it. I have a ring before it.

I loved it. As I mentioned in the author's other book, I usually don't like reading the novel after I watched, and loved the movie. Well, this book was amazing. It was more in depth and I felt like I knew their relationship more. I am going to have to get a copy of this one for my collection. I have the addresses and the books should be off to Spain in the next couple of days.

I took a while to finish this one, as I didn't find it very interesting, not up to Mr Matheson's usual standard.
He is too eager to put across his theories about the afterlife, and therefore neglects the plot... Virtually nothing happens for most of the novel, it starts moving towards the end (I am glad I didn't give up before this...)
There is a quite moving part, where the main character thanks his wife for their life together... That is beautifully written, mind you!
Soon to be passed on to Cambridgelass...

UPDATE 23/01/09

have read Stir of Echoes i rate it 3/5. It was really enjoyable and i liked that it was different from the film versions. I love his style of writing it is so easy to read and you'd never believe it was written in 1958.
I was very disappointed by the ending as it happened all to quickly and gets lost as there is a big build up to it and then it flops. You blink and you miss it. So glad i had a chance to read it thankyou :)

update 5/4/09 just to have it here officially i posted my thoughts on these books on 'A Stir of Echoes' page :)

i have posted both these books off to the next person :)

Thanks very much. I've got a few rays ahead of this one, but I'll try not to hold it up for too long.

I started to read this after the brilliant Stir of Echoes, and I just couldn't get into it. I gave up after two chapters.
Thanks for sharing, though. It's now on its way to special1165. Perhaps she'll get more out of it than I did.
