A nervous breakdown seems like a great idea: all that lying in bed and watching daytime TV. But who's going to have it? Will it be housewife Clodagh, who spends her days microwaving pasta for her demanding toddlers and waiting for her beautiful husband Dylan to come home? Or Lisa, hard, brittle and shiny as an M&M, reeling from the shock of a demotion from her fabulous job in London to a one-horse magazine in Dublin? Or Ashling, so normal she's weird?

Het zou leuk zijn als je het boek verder laat reizen. Je kan het aan een kennis geven om te lezen of zomaar in het wild ergens achterlaten zodat iemand anders het kan vinden, bijvoorbeeld in een restaurant, school, buiten, of ergens anders waarvan jij denkt dat er mensen komen die dit boek zouden willen lezen.

Hier schrijf ik later vandaag waar het boek precies gereleased is, met foto!

Edit: Het boek is losgelaten bij de kleinste sushi-bar van Utrecht: Tiny Tokio, op station Utrecht Centraal. Ze hebben er vijf barkrukken waar je je sushi kan opeten; ik vind het dus een restaurant.

Binnenkort komt hier ook een foto; deze staat al wel op de monopoly-foto-website. De sushi op de foto zijn kleine zalm maki's (die overigens niet bijzonder lekker waren).

Het boek lag gewoon nog op de plank bij de barkrukken. Gezien de bevindingen van AnnevO heb ik er maar niets gekocht. Geen personeel te bekennen trouwens dus dat was makkelijk. Ik ga straks mijn eigen overheerlijke zalmhapjes maken om dit puntje te vieren! Ik denk erover dit boek op vakantie te lezen en (in het buitenland dus)weer los te laten (tenzij jullie er bijzonder goed voorstaan ;) want ja, wij willen wel winnen natuurlijk!)

I liked the book. It was a nice read. Nothing more than that really.

I finished reading this book today. Finally!

The things I liked about it:
I definitely liked the writing style. This was the first book I read by Marian Keyes and I was surprised that I didn't stumble upon any of her books earlier. I really like her kind of humour. The entire book was a fast paced page turner. I would have read it in one go if I could.

The things I didn't like about it:
The story! This just wasn't for me.
I had this book on my personal wishlist for so long... At least for three years. I was so glad when miertje offered to ray it forward to me. And I've read many reviews saying what a sweet, light, nice book this is. Well, I didn't find it sweet, light, or nice at all. To me this was just the story of three women whose lives are entangeld for several reasons, and who all are on the edge of depression. I don't like reading about depressed people. And certainly not for 400 pages. So I guess it just wasn't my thing.

This will be one of the two books I am including into the Surprise BookXerpts (Romance/Chicklit) exchange. Hopefully the next reader will enjoy this book more than I did.

BUT: The release note's here already because I don't want whoever picks this book to check out my shelf and notice what they're getting by looking at "recently released" books.

Unfortunately the Surprise BookXerpts got lost in the mail. I'll find something else to do with this book.
