Love, life, families ... Tahitian style!
Materena Mahi, champion professional cleaner and best listener in all of Tahiti, is usually the one solving the problems. But right now she's that close from throwing her daughter Leilani into the street. "It doesn't matter what I do," she confides to Mama Teta, to Cousin Rita, to Mama Loana and to the Virgin Mary Understanding Woman, "it's always the wrong thing. I'm going taravana!" And if that wasn't enough there's a boy on the horizon. Or so the relatives are saying.
When everything around her is changing, and the traditional Tahitian rules no longer seem to be enough, Materena realises it's going to take more than the Welcome into Womanhood talk to deal with the next generation of Mahi women ...

On its way to tiger-kuh-katze.
Arrived at my new workplace last week and I will enjoy it hopefully soon. Thanks for sending!
a fascinating look into a different culture - but MUCH more than just that...
captivating, too - once started, i couldn't put it down until i was through...
yet there were moments when i wondered whether my mum some 30odd years ago did mutter the same complaints...
would like this book to become a ring Or ray and find many more readers!

Vielen vielen Dank, liebe tiger-kuh-katze! Das dicke Bücherpaket ist gestern gut hier angekommen!
I'm really looking forward to reading this book!
I read this a while ago yet completely forgot to make a journal entry. I really enjoyed reading this book - it was funny and very entertaining. Certainly not great literature, but very nice to read - would make for a great summer read on the beach :)!
Mein RABCK der 19. Woche.

The book has been chosen by Bloedengel via the
Flora and Fauna International VBB Hope you will like it. Thanks for participating.
I have read the book during the past weekend and really enjoyed it. It really is exotic compared to our lifes, though there is a big difference already between the Mum and the daughter. I often had to smile about the happenings there.

A nice, easy-to-read book. It made me smile all the way, and laugh at times- the scene at the drive-in cinema, for example, is soooo hilarious!
It also gives a joyful insight into the Polynesian culture, and celebrates women's strength and achievements in life.
A very enjoyable read. I'll pass it on to the first person who asks me for it.
