Amazon suggest this book is romance but IMHO it isn't primarily that - it's a story of hope amidst Nazi reality and gives some insight into the Polish resistance movement in Cracow. Pam Jenoff writes well and this book (and its sequel) provided good reading at the tail end of my holiday to the UK. (Bought for £6.99 as a set from WH Smith. Glad I got both books at the same time!) NOTE: AVL as a set with its sequel.

My BC birthday Buddy got the sequel to this and so I'm sending her the first part. It means that the set is broken here in Finland (which is a pity) but I'm glad it goes to a good home

Thanks so much for sending this! I will send it back when I've finished so that your set is no longer broken. It's no problem, I would only be looking for a new home for it anyway and it's nice for sets to stay together I think! I will probably read this next as I am struggling with my present book and can't wait to try something new. Thanks again!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it back-to-back with The Diplomat's Wife. The Kommandant's Girl was by far the better but I enjoyed both. Thanks for sharing it with me, it is now on its way home.
