My friends and I were talking about ergonomics and efficiency and running a family like a business and the conversation naturally drifted to "Cheaper By The Dozen" or was it "Yours, Mine & Ours"? And who starred in which movie [Clifton Webb & Myrna Loy v. Steve Martin & Bonnie Hunt in CBTD, and Henry Fonda & Lucille Ball v. Dennis Quaid & Renee Russo in YM&O]? And were the recent remakes really like the old movie [nuYM&O, somewhat] or did they just commandeer the titles [looking at you, nuCBTD]?

So after all that, I was looking for something to read and scanned my multiple bookshelves and this jumped out at me. Fate. Destiny. I grew up in a somewhat large, chaotic family, so the tale of the Gilbreths didn't scare me one bit—it thoroughly enchanted me. I loved all the little vignettes of life in the early 20th century, and in the end, I felt like I was one of the Gilbreth children.
