7 out of 10

From the back cover:

Here's how it is - in a universe filled with hearts and minds as cold and dark as the reaches of space, one small Firefly-class starship named Serenity takes its ragtag crew of mercenaries, outlaws, and fugitives in search of a job, any job, that'll earn them enough cash to afford that most elusive commodity - peace.

Joss Whedon, creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, unveils a previously unknown chapter in the lives of his favorite band of space brigands in this prequel to the Serenity feature film - the blockbuster follow-up to Whedon's cult-hit TV show Firefly.

This graphic novel authoritatively bridges the fairly big gap between Firefly and Serenity the movie and is as such interesting and welcome to the fans of both, such as myself. My biggest complaints are, firstly, that Whedon would do better not resurrecting minor characters whose abrupt deaths were kind of the whole point, and secondly, that this drawn version really makes me miss the actors.

Reserved to be sent to myntti.

Firefly! Thank you very much, Niora. I bet this book should have a warning label attached: "Reading this comic may lead to rewatching Firefly for the nth time". ;-)

It was nice to have the Serenity crew back - even if for a little while.
And yes, way back when I got this book, I had to rewatch Firefly.
(Unfortunately I'm too busy to start another rewatch right now.)

Finished! =) And now I miss Serenity and Firefly! Dammit. Lovely comic, I just wished it had been longer. And it made me happy to read the introduction from Nathan Fillion. My friend will read this next and then I'll think what to do with this.

Oooh! A manga yesterday, a graphic novel today... I think this must mean I've won!!!! 8D

I'm all with mynnti about the warning label (exacerbated by the fact that I've been meaning to re-watch Firefly for a long while now really, ever since I keep seeing Alan Tudyk on Suburgatory)! Let's see if I can't make the time.

Thank you so much, slipperbunny -- this really has come to the right place! :)

I completely agree with Niora and slipperbunny: so nice to see the folks again, but oh so short, and so sad. But the introduction by Nathan Fillion warmed my heart. :)
Also, yet another occasion where I wish I knew some Chinese...
