I'm not a huge fan of nonfiction, but this is well-written, flows easily, and grabs -- heavily -- at both the heart and the intellect.

The intellectual awakening she experienced in the Netherlands was neither rushed nor bogged down in any analytical process. There is no conceit in this autobiography; it is an honest journey.
After I finished reading the book, I found myself hungry to find taped interviews with Ayaan. (The film she produced with Theo van Gogh, "Submission, Part 1" is also available online.) Viewing this film and the many available interviews with Ayaan helped to put the book in perspective.

Took to my dental appointment last week. The dentist asked if he could borrow the book when I was done. I'll give him the book, hoping he continues to pass it on to others.
Passing on to Dr. Carlisi. Enjoy!
