Walking alone on a moorland road at dead of night, Sefira can remember only two things - her name and the fact that she has committed murder.
Grendon, an official in the new king's pay, finds Sefira and recognising the secret horror locked away in her damaged mind, offers to save her from death at the stake. He has a hidden agenda of his own, for the hungers and supernatural powers alive within Sefire, of which she is unaware, will be a bait the king cannot resist - and one which Grendon must learn to manipulate. Sefira's only chance of survival is to walk the narrow and treacherous path between policitical machination and supernatural evil - but there's a high price to pay.......

Not sure what to rate it yet, I've been flat out, so have only had time to read it this Easter weekend. It started out quite dramatic, but a little *soap opera* like.

We'll see!

I haven't read a fantasy novel for quite some time, so it took me a while to get into the descriptive language. The story was interesting, but I did find it a little frustrating because it wasn't straightforward... by the time I got to the end, the revelations were stale because the author kept upping the suspense the whole book. It was a little predictable IYKWIM!!!

I also did not like the way the main characterisation, it was too stereotypical - young woman - strong willed - no clue, confused. And the name was annoying "Sefira" ... but that's just my personal reaction to it!

Anyway, it was a pleasant enough way to while away the evening.
