The book arrived in the Netherlands today! This is going to be a quick but very nice read I think. I just noticed that the book contains a part of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which I already read, but I am defenitely looking forward to the other short story.
Sent to Katrinat today.
I really like the way Jonathan Safran Foer writes. It is just great, and so is the little story in this pocketbook of lightning. It is that I've already read Extremely Loud and Increadibly Close, otherwise I'd start reading it right away.
Ukcanaus, thanks for sharing!

Hmmm.... not a hundred percent sure about this, he seems to be trying very hard to be clever. Will post as soon as I get the next address.

It's now with me. I have one more book to read before getting round to this one, but hope to be reading and journalling again soon.
Well, I had it read about 10 minutes after I'd made the last journal entry! As I'd already read Extremely Loud...(together with Everything is Illuminated), there were only a few pages of material that were new to me and which I eagerly devoured. I do like Jonathan Safran Foer's inventive style of writing, and am intrigued by his attempt to give shape to the different forms of the spaces between the words people use with those who are close to them. There is always that edge of tension, of reproach and slight insinuation, between people who share a history, and I think he has it spot on. What a shame he couldn't develop the idea further, and it has to remain as a (very) short story, but I enjoyed reading it anyway.
Thank you to ukcanaus for setting the book off on its travels. It is small enough to fit into a pocket or a bag, and I've got this one earmarked for an early wild release!
