Journal Entry 1 by Projekt-X from Shepherd's Bush, Greater London United Kingdom on Tuesday, May 20, 2008

William Wiles is an easygoing thirty-something, a bartender who lives a quiet life alone until a serial killer singles him out -- not to kill him, but to force him to decide who the next victim will be. On his SUV Billy finds the first note: 'If you don't take this note to the police and get them involved, I will kill a lovely blonde schoolteacher. If you do take this note to the police, I will instead kill an elderly woman active in charity work. You have four hours to decide. The choice is yours.' Billy pays an informal visit to an acquaintance, Lanny Olson, who is a policeman, and who thinks the note is a prank. The schoolteacher dies.

I enjoyed reading this, very interesting! Probably not one of his best, but still a very good read.

ooh ... a suprise win of Project X's January RABCK. Lucky me.

I haven't read this Koontz (though funnily enough I picked up another by the same author just before Christmas from our Unofficial BC Zone here in Turku) AND have registered yet another (still unread) by the same author so it looks like 2009 will be a Koontz year: )

Which one to read first? -is now the dilemma :)

I took this book from the meet-up for my husband to read. He loves Koontz's books. I on the other hand have never read them.

8 out of 10

Koontz knows how to build up the suspense for the reader. The background for the main character Billy wasn't build up as thoroughly I would have liked. And also the final events were a little bit too hasty. But anyway surely I can recommend this book to be read.
