This was the legendary Tom Robbins' second novel. It is as wild a joyride today as it was at the time of its original 1976 publication. TR's impeccable research, brilliant writing style and playful profundity make his books both deliciously delightful and spiritually rewarding. This, as is true of all of Robbins' books, can be read at any level, it's many-layered stories range from the playful surface saga of the Rubber Rose Ranch's whooping crane rustlers to the philosophical teachings of a hermit reminiscent of the laughing Buddha. Robbins shows clearly with diamond bright wit and exquisite style that joy is profound and life is not to be taken too seriously. Each sucessive reading reveals new suprises. Enjoy!

From the cover: "Knowing like Pynchon, funny like Vonnegut, winsome as Brautigan...Tom Robbins is one of our best..." -The New York Times Book Review-

Quotes from Even Cowgirls Get the Blues:

"I believe in nothing, everything is sacred; I believe in everything, nothing is sacred."

"If little else, the brain is an educational toy. While it may be a frustrating plaything--one whose finer points recede just when you thing you are mastering them--it is nonetheless perpetually fascinating, frequently suprising, occasionally rewarding, and it comes already assembled; you don't have to put it together Christmas morning. / The problem with possessing such an engaging toy is that other people want to play with it, too."

"If civilization is ever going to be anything but a grandiose pratfall, anything more than a can of deodorizer in the sh*thouse of existence, the people are going to have to concern themselves with magic and poetry."

"One has not only an ability to perceive the world, but an ability to alter one's perception of it; more simply, one can change things by the manner in which one looks at them. "

"'I wasn't really shot with a silver bullet,' she confessed to no one in particular. 'Or was I?'"

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

RELEASE NOTES:

Left under the seat, aisle 8 of the 4:00 Cirque du Soleil performance at Marymoore park. Wanted to take a picture, but no cameras; I must have looked suspicious because security stuck close to me all night.

Added a pink sticky note on the cover with a Robbins quote from the book, appropriate as the stage was overflowing with pink circus tights:

"A woman in pink circus tights might very well contain all the secrets of the universe." Tom Robbins, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues
