Unabridged original on 10 Cds, performed by Norman Dietz. The great American novel - abandoned to the care of his abusive father, a young man escapes to live an unfettered life on the Mississippi and to form his own code of ethics free from the conventions of society.

I'm glad I listened to this rather than reading it. I think the speech would have been difficult to decipher. There were parts that dragged. I was amazed with Huck's quick wit, and ability to lie/embellish at the drop of a hat.

I love this book and this is the second audio version that I have. I also have the one read by Tom Parker on my mp3 player. I'm hoping to compare the two. Thanks for sharing this one.

Journal Entry 9 by msjoanna at Columbia, Missouri USA on Wednesday, May 18, 2011
I thought the one read by Tom Parker was slightly better than this one because I thought Tom Parker did a better job with Jim's voice, but really, this was an excellent recording of the Great American Novel. Very enjoyable.

I'm going to release this one into an audio bookbox.

Taken from indygo88's CD Audio Bookbox (2): I also have Tom Sawyer on unabridged audio at the moment, so I can get a good dose of Mark Twain!
