From back cover:
One night in London, Irina McGovern's destiny hinges on a single kiss. Whether she leans into one alluring pair of lips will determine whether she stays with her long-time partner Lawrence, of runs off with Ramsey, a hard-living snooker player.
A parallel-universe structure allows us to follow Irina's competing futures with two drastically different men.

Bought at Stansted Airport's WH Smith bookshop.

I loved We need to talk about Kevin so my hopes are high for this one, too!

Edit July 20, 2008:
I absolutely loved The Post-Birthday World - it was at least as good as Kevin, if not better. I liked the characters a lot, especially Irina and Ramsey. Lawrence remained a little distant and wasn't as interesting as the other two. I could totally relate to Irina's thoughts and feelings at several points, so the story (or stories) felt very real. Who hasn't ever thought what might have happened if one had made a different choice at a certain moment in his/her life?

I love Shriver's language and writing style. I'm not a native in English, so I can't say how authentic the dialects were, but I enjoyed the different speaking styles of the characters: Lawrence's American English, Ramsey's South London accent and Irina's somewhere-in-between British and American (which Lawrence always criticizes her of).

My boyfriend is definitely a Lawrence, and it suits me fine. I do know one or two Ramseys, too, but as charming and exciting they might be, I'm not sure that I could stand living with them. :)
