An Unsuitable Job for A Woman
5 journalers for this copy...
This was in a box of books I'd stored in the shed for a while. I plan to re-read and release at a later date.
I finished this book this afternoon. I found it an enjoyable read that kept me interested to the end. I have put the next book featuring the main character on my wishlist. I am going to pass it on to my mum to read and it will then begin it's bookring journey.

P.D.James never disappoints, and this novel from 1972, where we are introduced to Cordelia Gray, is one of her best, in my opinion.
Besides depicting one of our best current female sleuths (and I am sure this has been the model for other recent characters), the plot is neatly devised and easy to follow, and at the same time plausible and interesting.
The city of Cambridge is a character in itself; I have been there, and it has brought it back vividly.
One of many lines worthy of being quoted (the subject is youth):
"I can never see why people should be jealous (of youth). After all, youth isn't a matter of privilege, we all get the same share of it. Some people may be born at an easier time or be richer or more privileged than others, but that hasn't anything to do with being young. And being young is terrible sometimes. Don't you remember how terrible it could be?"
Thanks, TheDunedan, for giving me the chance to re-read this one; it will soon be on its way to Nicolenagela.

The book arrived here yesterday safe and sound- thank you Bookwormlady! I think I'll start reading it right now.
An enjoyable read 'till the end. Now it'll go to Christoffel. I already have her address.
And this book arrived savely at my place today!
I am sorry that I kept this book so long... I finished it yesterday, and just send a pm to ana-b.
I really liked the book. I sympathised with the main character, and didn't expect the ending. I really would like to read more from this series.

The book has arrived.
I enjoyed this book very much. An old-fashioned thriller, no second layer in the story, no in-depth conversations, just a very straight forward story. So refreshing.
