An interesting story, although I'm not convinced it lived up to the hype surrounding it.

If you've found this book and you're new to this, welcome to bookcrossing! I hope you enjoy looking around the bookcrossing site. If you decide to join bookcrossing (it's free, so no reason not to if you're interested!) please feel free to list me (kitten99) or any previous reader of this book as the member who referred you. Even if you don't join I'd appreciate it if you'd leave a quick journal note so I can see where the book ended up - you can do it anonymously if you wish.

To any BCer looking at this on my bookshelf: generally any books I've marked as available are usually (very few exceptions) up for swapping - pm me if you like.

Above all, I hope you enjoy the book!

7 out of 10

At the tender age of eighteen, Nazneen's life is turned upside down. In an arranged marriage with a man 20 years older she moves from her Bangladeshi village to a block of flats in the London's East End. She devotes her life to raising her family, however when she meets Karim they embark on an affair that finally forces Nazneen to take control of her life.

I enjoyed reading this book. I admit it isn't something I would normallychoose to read but I found it very interesting and thank NICNIC2 once more for the RABCK. Bookcrossing certainly ensures I don't stick to one genre anymore :)
