Been looking for ths book for ages and then I found it in a huuuuge 2nd hand bookstore.

This must be one of Hiaasen's earlier books, having been published in the '80's. It has the usual brand of Hiaasen styled craziness: black comedy, some grisly bits, flawed heroes, environmental issues, greedy developers, crooks, cops, and some really bizarre situations which, after reading an interview with the author, are probably based on actual events, which makes them even more bizarre.
So, all the elements were in this book but it failed to really grab my attention....and the bit with the poodle was gratutious, I felt.
Anyways, if anything, at least Hiaasen's books have improved over the years.

Very strange characters in this book but it was a pretty good read! I've enjoyed reading books by this author and will definitely read more of his.
