From the inside pages:
...meet charming, insightful Cornelia Brown as she struggles to forge friendships with the women in her new town and discovers that even the most joyful marriage can encounter unexpected, and sometimes frightening hurdles. Across the street lives Piper Truitt, a blond, imperious queen bee whose complex inner self breaks to the surface of her picture-perfect life as she cares for her best friend, recently diagnosed with cancer. And then there is Lake, the feisty mother of sensitive, whip-smart Dev, who has moved to Cornelia's town so her son can attend a school for gifted students, but who actually harbors a deeper motive. As their stories unfold, these characters become entangled in a web of trust, betrayal, love, and loss that challenges them in ways they never imagined and that ultimately teaches them what it means for one human being to belong to another.

OK...her first book Love Walked In was a little difficult to get into because of all the old movies and songs references. But I'm glad to say that here, the author has contained herself a bit, even if sometimes I thought she rambled off a bit. It was a little difficult to get into in the beginning, but then after a few chapters, I wanted to keep reading and find out what would happen next. I did quite enjoy it and found the characters Piper and Dev quite interesting, and I was moved by how Elizabeth handled her battle with cancer.

Maybe I should put this out as a bookray so those BCers who liked her first book, might like to read her second also.

I really liked this novel. It wuld have been easy for the author to have her characters, especially Piper, just become stereotypes, but instead you really got to know them and they were as complex as real people.

I agree with Canadian-babe that there was a bit too much rambling going on (the book's editor should have done something about that) but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It was exactly the kind of fluffy comfort reading that I needed right now. The characters were likeable and the storylines heartwarming. Even the cover made me feel good. Thanks for sharing, everyone!
