I read this book in roughly one day and night. Really really enjoyed it (just ordered the 4th part), so I decided to make a ring out of this one and, if there is interest later on, also of the others.

So what is it all about, you might ask.
The story takes place during the time of the Napoleonic Wars. A navy ship under the british flag manages to get hold of a french one. What no one suspects: The french ship carries a priceless treasure - a dragon egg of unknown breed. Dragons are used on both sides for warfare, and so it is certain that there will be a high reward for the catch. There is only a slight problem: They are in the middle of the sea, the egg is about to hatch - and someone will have to tame it before it flies away.

I soon found myself wishing to have a dragon of my own, and that with beeing afraid of heights and all. But Novik just manages to depict them as so lovely characters (besides beeing effective killermachines) that I think I would feel pretty save with them.

Since Its not a really expensive book, I dont see a sense in sending it around the world for much money. Thats why I will offer it to the german community first. If you are not in Germany, but happen to want to read it, drop me a PM and we figure something out.
