Libretto #1 read this book a few years ago ... he describes it as sort of "The Stand" for teens. Gave it six or seven stars, only because he thought it was going to be one kind of story when he chose it, and it turned out to be something very different. But otherwise, it was an exciting book.

Book Description from www.target.com:
One year ago, a devastating plague called Strain 7 killed three quarters of the human race. Around the world, power systems failed and supply chains screeched to a halt. The surviving population of the United States has been relocated to the coasts; the heartland is now a wasteland called The Big Empty. But seven teens trying to put their lives back together will learn that the abandoned zone holds danger, secrets, and above all, hope.

I really liked this. I knew when I got to the end there had to be more. I checked Amazon and this is first of a trilogy. I am going to get the other two books and pass the whole series along to my son Jsport.
This did have the feel of The Stand to it for sure. I read The Stand as a teen and thought it was great.

I just reread this because I have acquired the other 3 books that go with it. I am looking forward to reading those. My son has already read them all, so when I am done, I will probably loan them to a friend of his.

I am cleaning up my BC shelf and making sure that what is on my online shelf is actually on my real life shelves. If this is a kids' book, my kids probably have it. If it is an adult book, I probably loaned it out and didn't get it back. Otherwise, I am just not sure.
