I would have classified this as "children's" but Random House seems to classify it as "teens," so I am going with teens.

This book won the 1950 Newbery Medal. It also won the Lewis Carroll Shelf Award and the Regina Medal.

I read and collect the Newbery Medal winning books, and normally I like them but this one is just fabulous. It has depth, symbolism, and truth. I pretty much live by what Brother Luke says: Thou hast only to follow the wall long enough and there will be a door in it. I'm not sure I would have made it to the age of 21 if I didn't believe things like that.

Anyway, this is a duplicate copy from my collection, so it's being sent out into the world for others to read. I bought it used, and I can see that it once belonged to a Natasha Burnside.

I hope that any other people who end up with this book in their hands enjoy it as much as I have.

Journal Entry 2 by JessicaEby at Medieval Times Dinner Theatre in Toronto, Ontario Canada on Thursday, January 2, 2014

Released 10 yrs ago (1/1/2014 UTC) at Medieval Times Dinner Theatre in Toronto, Ontario Canada

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I found this book in an old suitcase I have, filled with special books... I can't believe how long this book sat there, or how much life has changed since my last entry! It's been 6 years now (going on), I am 27... and still reminding myself of that quote regularly! Three years ago I met an amazing man (who, strangely, was only 17 when I wrote that last journal entry) who is really interested in medieval culture and history. He proposed at Hamilton's Princess Falls late in 2013, and as a gift my father bought us Celebration Package tickets to the special New Year's Eve show at Medieval Times in Toronto ("Princess Jessica" here, preparing for her marriage to "the Knight Christopher" if you listened to the celebratory announcements during the show, lol). We stayed at the party until just after midnight and left this book sitting on a throne-like chair on our way out.

If you've found this book, thanks for picking it up and checking out its journal! If you're new to bookcrossing, welcome. We'd love it if you'd stick around with us a while. I really hope that you enjoy both this book and the whole bookcrossing experience!

This book was released as part of the 2014 "52 Towns in 52 Weeks" Release Challenge. My favourite place, the city of Toronto, was Town #1 for me this year!
