I didn't know what to expect when I started reading this except that it wasn't quite as laugh-out funny as I'd thought. That didn't matter though as instead it was a lot more touching than I knew to expect. I also hadn't realized it was a short story collection and that took a little getting used to (not that I have anything against short stories). I ended up enjoying Sedaris's reminiscences very much, and at times I forgot it was autobiographical.
