Synopsis

WORLD WITH NO NAME...
A stratified rain forest, three-quarters of a mile high. A delicate balance between plant and animal, between beauty and danger. Mankind and the Furcats, threatened by the sinister menace of the upper and lower hells, prefer the third of the seven levels.

MIDWORLD
Born dwells here, must defend the Home against flesh-eating horrors of the jungle. But even he, the most fearless of hunters, cannot bargain for the terrible destruction planned by the forces of the Commonwealth...

This book is part fantasy, part sci-fi. I don't generally go for the sci-fi genre but this was a great book. I received it as a gift from my grandmother years ago, and I have read it several times since. This book is worth a second read as it contains nuances that may be missed first time round.

Forgot I'd picked this up from the VBB - cheers fairy-whispers! Everything else of Foster's I've read has been good, I'm looking forward to this!

I thought this book was okay - certainly a vivid and fascinating setting and premise. But it kind of didn't go anywhere for a while, then all the action was crammed in and a bit bland towards the end. Could have done with being longer and having the major plot points happen a bit sooner. But still very enjoyable, some great character moments!

Off to Freelunch - enjoy! (And sorry it's a bit battered!)

received today, thanks jennymidget

I know I should read this book despite its battered condition, but with a house stacked full of intact reading material I'm probably never going to select it.

I enjoyed this. I would have liked to see how Midworld would protect itself from future incursions by the Commonwealth.
