This arrived today thanks. The post card is beautiful (and on the wall already) and the bookmark waiting to do its job.

Just finishing a Hamish MacBeth detective story (also set in Scotland) and then I have one more book to read before this - but will be on its way soon :)

Synopsis: Boggis, Bunce and Bean are the meanest three farmers you could meet. They are determined to get Mr Fox - but he has other plans!

I really enjoyed reading this but was glad I had read it in English first. My Godson is Scottish so it really helped me - when reading it - to imagine him talking. I tried the first chapter on my 8th and 9th graders in school and they thought it "very hard" ... though they really enjoyed learning the scottish words like brae, wee and laughed a lot when they finally worked out what fower stood for :) I couldn't work out what puddens were though - and guessed that skellem was something like a scoundral. My favourite was Brock.

I'd love to hear an audio version of this :)

10 out of 10

Arrived yesterday and was a lovely surprise for when I got back from hospital. Thank sou, Smurphie, for including the lovely postcard and bookmark, and to seethroughfaith for sending it on.

I actually read it in one sitting just when it arrived, forgetting how much I loved the original Dahl. I really loved the translation! I had no idea the Scots word for turkey was a "bubblyjock" - how perfect!

Thanks for sharing this book.

PMing smurphie for instructions.
