Retrieved this from DH (by substituting a different book) and will return it later.

Yes, a new author for me. I found the writing a little jittery though, jumping quite wildly at times from scene to scene with little or no explanations. However, I liked the quiet way in which the leads / loose ends / threads were linked and tidied up throughout the narrative. The ending was not unexpected after all the various hoops had been gone through but was nonetheless neatly sewn up.

I think I may try one or more other books from this author to see whether I will continue through the series as I preferred his writing to some other authors I've tried. Back to DH now.

DH comments.

The story was very competently written but the dsijointed style of writing (which I did not dislike) meant that it was more easily put down rather than compelling you to read more. In fact I sometimes wondered if I'd missed bits when something did not flow as well as it might have.
Could not get any real feel of characterisation of the detective squad (with one notable exception ~ Weekes) so did not feel as if the charcters were explored just peripheral vehicles to move the story on.
I would read more from this author but hope that the stories get more involved.

Flutterbies9.

I think I will release this book locally but will set it as available until I do.

Huge apologies ~ I forgot to journal that this had arrived with me… which is rather curious seeing that I did remember to make a review, as below, in my records at the time!

Well, this arrived yesterday Wednesday, and I sat down to make a journal entry and started to read it… and one thing lead to another, so I’ve finished it! This writing style made me feel dizzy though, and I never quite settled to it though I have whizzed through it like a dose of salts, the who-done-it aspect keeping me glued. I was intrigued by the writing style even though slightly frustrated by it’s effect of keeping me at a distance by not really being able to connect with any of the main protagonists. Or was it that there were too many? Though it’s clearly not a screen play it has very cinematic elements.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES: I am going to be in Aberdeen this weekend and hope to catch up with at least one bookcrosser while in town. I shall probably leave this at the official BookCrossing Zone, downstairs in the Belmont Cinema Café.

ADDED – Wednesday 29 OCTOBER: this last Sunday, I left this on the official BookCrossing Zone bookshelf in the Belmont Cinema Café which is well worth finding at the bottom of the stairs. I had a great natter with Ythan in Books & Beans first though and chomped upon a tasty treat before the Belmont Cinema Café had opened its sleepy Sunday doors.
