Good book.
Even when I read it (though I can't remember now whether I knew about the film, or whether that was even before the film was made), it had a "cinematic feel" to it... Probably due to the point of view...
What I really like about Jeffrey Eugenides (in the case of Middlesex even more so) is how he takes a topic that's a societal taboo, that just "isn't talked about" no matter how traumatic it is for the individuals concerned - and then researches every little detail and makes it into a very well-written book that informs the "outsiders" that these people and occurrences do exist (and how to deal with them, or at least how NOT to treat them) and tells the "insiders" that they're not alone - and even where to find counselling.
(*phew* That became a rather long sentence. Hope it's still decipherable.)
