I found this book in the building where I live. Thanks for the person who left it there! It was a book I wanted to read, so it made me very glad.

I was quite impressed with the story. A few terrible things happen in the book, but I was never really shocked. It is told in playful way, trough the eyes of a kid. Really in the way the main character, Francie, perceives everything, which is one the one side a bit down-to-earth, and on the other side, not very realistic. Like he's in some sort of world of his own.
This might be a bit vague, but I don't want to tell too much and spoil the story.

I found this book kind of strange, I guess that has something to do with the way the story is written. Sometimes it was hard to follow, confusing and I found it hard to get into the story. I'm glad I read it, although it was different than I expected. :-)

Thanks for sharing Marsala! This book will be traveling further as a RABCK next week. I'll try to find a new candidate via the wishlists. :-)

Wow, thankyou.
This is definatly karma in action, as I posted a surprise RABCK this morning, and then when I returned from work, I'd received this RABCK.

This took me a little while to get into it, and at some points I was wishing it moved a little faster, but on the whole, I would recommend.

It was picked up ... although it has taken me a week to journal it. Thanks for this - and the coffee - deckchair.

I'm not quite sure how to rate this. It is not an easy book - not one for the squeamish, those who like unambiguous punctuation, or anyone who finds stream of consciousness hard to cope with. Normally I'd fall into at least one of those categories, so I did find it took me a while to get into and I did avoid picking it up to finish once or twice. However there is a bleak humour: Francie's madness, his warped perspective on the world, includes a sharp eye for the absurd. Although many of his actions are literally disgusting, and his narration is matter-of-fact - insouciant - it is hard not to feel sympathy for a lost little boy unwilling to grow up and become part of a lonely world.
