I picked this up at the library book sale.
I am taking this to Michigan with me for the holidays. If I finish it, I will release it there. from the publisher:
Warren Harding, 29th president of the United States, died in office in 1923. Elliot Weiner, the hero of this hilarious novel, is researching the life of this little-known president, and discovers that Rebekah Kinney, Harding's mistress is still alive.
Obsessed with the idea of publishing Harding's love lettersto Rebekah, Weiner moves to Hollywood and becomes her lodger, but his plans to cash in and further his academic career through this lucrative find are continually frustrate, and the schemes he formulates become increasingly farcical and unlikely. In a Californian setting we meet a string of celebrities and hopeless failures that accurately reflect the delirious brainlessness of the sunshine state.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars
This is a very funny, very politically incorrect book. Eliott goes to Los Angelos to interview Warren Harding's former mistress who gave birth to his illegitimate daughter. Upon arriving he finds out the poolhouse is available to rent so he moves in. His schemes to get close to the woman lead to some funny interactions with some of L.A.'s odder residents.

I was going to release the book but I found out it is out of print so I will keep it and loan it out.
